Lines: 13 Summary: The articles referred to wondered about the tune to the Shaker hymn "Simple Gifts" and its use in Copland works (also as the theme for an occasional "CBS Reports." It is, indeed, an old Shaker hymn. Copland used it in his work "Appalachian Spring."
