Wonderful.  Sigh...some basics about statistics and surveys ought to be
required public-school material.  Ann Landers has done a marvelous job of
illustrating what sort of cross-section of people read her column and would
bother to write to her.  I'll offer a hypothesis which (I think) is as good
as any of those carelessly implied by the article:
	Readers of Ann Landers who follow the column seriously enough to
	respond in writing to a survey in the column are, as a whole,
	either so troubled in their personal relationships or so detached
	from reality that a majority don't consider sexual intimacy to be a
	necessary part of the relationship.
In other words, it's only a straw vote.  It's barely a survey and it sure
as hell ain't a study.  Too bad for Ann Landers' female readership, but
don't worry about America because of it.

But then, it wasn't that many years ago that Ann Landers spouted off that
she knew that women who wore short skirts and tight clothing were inviting
rape--and no double-domed university type was going to tell her otherwise!
