It used to be clear that HSV-I was oral and HSV-II was genital, but these
days with as much oral sex as occurrs, there is no guarantee that you won't
get HSV-II from oral contact.  Stress is a major factor in reoccurrance of
outbreaks of Herpes.  It is also the case that some percentage of those
infected may have nearly permanent remission (cessation of outbreaks).  Another
factor in recurrance is diet.  It tends to be a personal pattern, where some
may have weekly outbreaks, and some may never again have an outbreak after
the initial infection.  It is possible for a woman to have active genital
herpes (either HSV-I or HSV-II) without necessarily being aware of it, if it
is internally active.  For this reason, the worst affect of herpes is the
restriction of promiscuity for women with genitally located HSV.

There are social organizations for the sufferers of HSV to meet each other.

It ain't the end of sex, but it can interfere with promiscuity, which may
be of some concern to some singles.  There is no substitute for openness and
honesty when it comes to these matters.
