Buttering up the other netters, eh? :-)

What's so wrong with having a crutch?  All of us are, to a greater or lesser
degree, crippled and imperfect and weak, at least sometimes; we all need
support.  It happens that the net is an (almost) always available means of
support, as I expressed in another article, since it's there for me over 20
of the 24 hours.

I think we stumbled into semantic difficulties here over the annoying
multiplicity of meanings of the word "love".  I am not just referring to the
love that occurs between Special Ones (SO's, the new disabbreviation which I
am hoping to see become official); that sort of love would probably not be all
work and pain, since if it were the people involved would probably no longer be
SO's.  I am referring to the sort of love that is shown by people like Mother
Teresa -- people who give far beyond what they receive in this life.  That
degree, that sort, that depth (if not that particular realization) of love is
what I am still hoping to become capable of; however, at this point in my
progress, it appears well-nigh impossible to be that loving, and the journey
to that exalted state appears most arduous, inasmuch as it will require the
sacrifice of all the defenses against other humans (and against God Himself)
which I have built so strongly, probably more strongly than the majority.
