Do any of you who are >>overweight see this attitude as a problem? Once upon a time, I tipped the scales at 318 pounds. Before I did anything about it, I found myself single one morning (the ex never did suggest I loose weight - she even once remarked that as long as I was "big" she wouldn't lose me). However, upon waking up one morning as a single person, I also discovered that there is an attitude problem with fat people. Don't bother to flame about that phrase; be honest, fat is fat! Fat women would go out with me, but thin beautiful types were not the least bit interested. Then I found a correlation in automobiles - i.e., the big guy (18 wheeler) takes little notice of the little guy (VW?), but you can bet the VW is awed by the Mack truck in his mirror (if not downright scared). It is the same with people. Fat people look at everyone as someone to meet/know/ date. Skinny people see fat people as someone who will be very easily noticed and usually noticed for the wrong reasons. This tends to draw attention to their date also and sometimes causes embarassment. It is a common thing to look up and say, "What does that gorgeous chick see in old blubber belly" (or vice versa). It inspired me to shed some pounds... as in I dropped 75 lbs in the first year. I haven't had a dating problem since. But, even I must admit that now I am a little reluctant to date fat women. They may be nice, but I FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE with thinner people. Hey, I still ain't Arnold Schwartzenegger, but I have no problem seeing my belt when I look down either. Having been on both sides of the fence and dealing with both sets of emotions, whether it's fair or not, fat people are least likely to be dated by non-fat people (at least more than once). Sorry, but that's life...
