For all the flak that the Catholic Church takes on marriage and divorce they are making a real and useful effort on this. If you want to marry within the church you have to 1) register from six to twelve months in advance (depends on where you live) 2) participate in a ``pre-cana'' program to check that you really know what you are getting into.
