(and to those who don't like the "three dot school of journalism", though)... in regards to several articles posted recently about christianity someone said recently about mistranslations of pornia thorough the ages "how could this be?"... hey the bible is rife with contradictions and mistranslations and out and out mistakes.... i think it's entirely because of all the years it's been around that this sort of stuff happens... i remember taking an art history course some years back, and they showed us examples of early renaissance sculpture where all the statues of saints had horns, because the translation of the bible that was going around for a couple of hundred years had "horn" in the place of "halo".... and as far as the bible saying much of anything specifically... the bible has more random and general comments than any other literary work... depending on how vivid the christians imagination is, he can make it say just about anything he wants it to.... now, in regards to the disparaging remarks about divorcees in recent letters.... divorcees have done nothing wrong by getting divorced. in fact they may have done the most humane and "christian" thing possible by leaving a relationship when it is dead rather than clinging to its corpse... why hang around and torture yourself, and your spouse by pretending to love each other, as so many "christians" do??? makes little sense to me... what i can't condone is spouses (or spice?) that cheat on their mates... if something is over, make a clean break of it, and for god's sake, at least do them the courtesy of being honest with your mate... they earned that much for living with you in the first place.... from the home of white pie, and apple bread, "keeping freedom safe from democracy", sincerely yours. mark modrall mwm dartmouth college...
