Message-ID: <1971@sun.uucp> Date: Tue, 29-Jan-85 12:30:35 EST Article-I.D.: sun.1971 Posted: Tue Jan 29 12:30:35 1985 Date-Received: Sat, 2-Feb-85 09:49:49 EST References: <160@moncol.UUCP> <55200136@trsvax.UUCP> Honda has had a second division, called Verno I believe, for some Organization: Sun Microsystems, Inc. Lines: 21 time in Japan. It sells upmarket versions of Honda's standard platforms - a Audi Coupe-ish 5 door based on the Civic, for example. The new division in the US will sell the Honda XX, a luxury sedan developed in conjunction with Britain's Rover. The Brits have apparently contributed a lot in the ride/handling and interior areas, and may sell the Rover version here also. Preliminary sketches showed a dynamite hatchback, but the rather funny-looking sedan will bow first. Other possibilities for the new division are upscale versions of the Civic with Fuel Injection (making the "Civic" even more crushingly superior to a BMW 318i at 1/3 the price!) and a revised Prelude with the much- heralded V6. Will the nifty 4-wheeled box Honda City be in the line-up? Probably not. I gleaned all this hearsay from Britain's "Car" magazine, the finest automotive periodical I've ever seen, and way out in front of the U.S. mags in publishing pre-release photos and specifications of European and Japanese cars. =Stephen S.
