(all right, so all of Marvel comics are propaganda for other Marvel comics) What would Marvel (and Jim Shooter) gain by being honest, and saying "hey! our comics are full of hype and glitz for our products. As long as you people keep buying this trash, we can keep publishing it!"..naw, Jim Shooter isn't that literate. He'd probably just call you a bozo, and leave it at that... Speaking of which, yes I have definitely noticed that "COIE" has been discussed, rather than flamed here. I think a lot as to do with the way DC has presented the material. Instead of fairly threatening us with "you won't have any idea what's going on unless you buy this set of comics", they're approaching it with a "it's time to clean house in the DC universe". I don't think there is going to be a lot of cryptic remarks in other comics (I mean, punting an entire comic is as uncryptic as you can get) about the "cosmic" experience everyone has had. Another nice thing about DC is that they don't trash out every powerful female that comes along (Jim Shooter must have one heckuva complex with women), or kill characters every twelve issues or so.
