Some of you have already answered, so we already know what you think. How many people out there think that EVERYTHING is overregulated? Now hold on, I don't suggest we just throw every regulation that ever existed out the door, I'm talking about overregulation though. The little things the the gov' has no business sticking their nose into. I get a little damn sick of the gov't treating the people as if they had no common sense. The same goes for industries. AT&T was doing a fine job monopolizing the phone business, but we couldn't have that. Highways built in the 50's and 60's with *corners banked for 80-85 mph* still exist, but we can't drive on them faster than 55. Imported cars that need $1000+ worth of changes to make them meet US standards. We don't need this! Essentially, we are being governed by special interest groups. Such and such a group wants this. Claim it's killing out babies or is going to cause cancer or it will "make the world a better place to live in", and BOOM, you've got yourself a law. Don't think about the people that this harms, just follow what the vocal minority wants. And a lot of times, it goes thru just a touch faster because it will make the government a few bucks along the way. I think if everyone who felt this way would stand up and say "NO MORE!", things might happen. But don't count on it before then. Until enough people show their disapproval in some large scale way, the govenments of this country will continue to work as a money making venture, and disregard the feelings of the many. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Andy Banta {decvax!allegra!ihnp4}!pur-ee!pucc-k!agz Dept. of Mental Instability, Purdue University --- "I'm OK, You're a CS Major" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
