Lafferty) Distribution: net Organization: The MITRE Corp., Bedford, Ma. Lines: 24 Keywords: chess syntax setup I have been building a front end to the UNIX chess program for a while in my spare time. It is just about ready to distribute but I need some info from anyone who may remember how to communicate with the old chess program on the PDP-11. From the "strings" in the binary (actually a core dump) I can tell that there once was a way to SETUP the board manually. I have tried many variations of syntax to make setup work to no avail. Does anyone remember how to tell chess which pieces go on which squares and then how to end the setup?? A minor problem (not on that I really worry about) is what the score numbers mean when in test mode. I suppose I can figure them out but if anyone has a manual page or a document I would sure appreciate it. For those who can help (and all the rest of the world) I will post the source for the "chessboard" program shortly. Much obliged, Ed Lafferty
