San Diego, Academic Computer Center Lines: 19 Would like some advice on computer aided design hardware and software. The company that I work for builds electro-mechanical machinery. We are still in the pencil age and need to modernize our documentation procedures. I am thinking of a starter system of moderate cost which could be expanded later after experience is gained. The system should aid in the generation and storage of 2-dimensional mechanical parts drawings and occasional printed circuit layouts. We have a Perkin-Elmer minicomputer running UNIX-7 with Berkeley extensions, (upgradable to system V), which could perhaps be used as a host to gain some initial experience without too much capital outlay. But I would like some specific advice on what types and brands of software, graphics terminals, and plotters to shop for. Any and all advice will be most appreciated. Thanks.
