	       CONVENIENT SOURCE FOR BEARCAT 20/20 MANUAL

   Need	a manual and schematics	for the	Bearcat	 20/20	scanner?   The
   Heathkit GR-740 scanner is really a Bearcat 20/20.  Heath sells the
   GR-740 assembly manual with schematics for $5.

   If you're considering  a  purchase  of  the	Heathkit  version,  as
   recently  reviewed  in  QST,	be advised that	the circuit boards are
   preassembled	at the Bearcat factory.	 Consequently:

      -	If something ever goes wrong with an IC	or a capacitor on  one
	of the boards, Heath sells you an entire new board rather than
	replacing the component	(now we're talking real	money).
