I would also be interested in such a survey, if it
exists, it probably would be worth posting.
I know
Peterson's_Engineering,_Science,_&_Computer_Jobs_1984
lists "average starting salaries" at quite a few firms as a
function of education.

I would also be interested in a cost of living vs
salary survey.
