We too tried putting an AM radio on top, and found that we could control the output frequency by adjusting the length of a short loop, and wrote simple music programs to show it off. We then realized that we could use this technology to drive a 300 baud modem, and thus interface to a real printer across the room (part of another system). Believe it or not, it worked, and we routinely used this "wireless" interface for some time. --david
