They used to sell building sets with nylon blocks and worm-drive motors. You could also buy electronic components for them like flip-flops, multivibrators and amplifiers. I own 5 sets and still build with them from time to time. Their products are ultra-high quality (each block had a lifetime guarantee), imaginative, and allow you to build real, working prototypes.
