Changing the ruler metric from inches to centimeters requires changing
the international resource specifications.  Using resource editor, open
macwrite.  Open resource type intl.  Open intl=0. Page to the end of
the resource and change
metric 0
to
metric 1

Do the same for intl=1.  Save and try out your new metric macwrite.
I may have missed the exact names of the resources above, but I'm
at work now and I tried this last weekend.  Enjoy.
