The idea was discussed at some length in net.news.group (which, BTW, is the proper group for discussing proposed and current newsgroups). The idea was almost universally rejected for the same reason we don't have a "net.forsale" -- it would indirectly encourage people to post items net-wide which have only a regional interest. The netters in Sweden and England most likely aren't interested in replying to carpool ads, and the folks in Korea and Australia aren't going to be very interested in "67 Chevy for sale in NJ" postings. If anyone thinks that net traffic should include personal ads of any sort, then create a LOCAL newsgroup to handle it. A state or regional distribution is fine, but NOT "net". -- Gene "6 months and counting" Spafford The Clouds Project, School of ICS, Georgia Tech, Atlanta GA 30332 CSNet: Spaf @ GATech ARPA: Spaf%GATech.CSNet @ CSNet-Relay.ARPA uucp: ...!{akgua,allegra,hplabs,ihnp4,linus,seismo,ulysses}!gatech!spaf
