Lines: 20 I agree Usenet is broken. I spend what seems like half my useful life just keeping things going here at wjvax. Doing Usenet work on a netwide basis would be *at least* a full time job. I may be naive, but is there any company/organization that pays you to do this stuff? Must I continue to hold two jobs, one unpaid? (You can consider this a general question. I think the chances border on certainty that the big time net people like lauren, chuq, et. al. spend more time on this stuff than I could possibly imagine.) I just can't believe that the 'free' net would ever go away. If the worst possible thing happens, and Usenet becomes technical only, all moderated, and almost impossible to post to, a new, chaotic, unmoderated net would emerge somewhere else. Of course, I'm also predicting that Beta will someday displace VHS... (:-) -- Ron Christian (Watkins-Johnson Co. San Jose, Calif.) {pesnta, twg, ios, qubix, turtlevax, tymix}!wjvax!ron
