To Friends 1/29/85

We have touched as friends touch
Shared the laughter, and some tears
Grow closer with the passage of time
Friendships last forever, lovers pass
We have reached into each other, and are pleased

A friend is the opening of doors
Making new trails, to explore
Of truth, friends speak freely
Angry words are a sign of caring
To keep each other, help each other

I have few close friends, like you
You are unique, in those, smile about it
Shared is my secret, safe in your heart
Incapable of betrayal, you are here
And I am glad that we have touched
