When I thought of a glass, I thought of a typical glass (you know, kind of rounded inside bottom, wider at top), and not a cylinder. (Of course, to state that glass was a cylinder would have clued everyone in right off.) I DID supply an answer that let them get "as close as desired", which I consider good enough for the real world.
