"becoming" an annual event, nothing!  It's *been* an annual event
for many years now.  Yes, it's a Purdue thing, I don't remember exactly
which group of crazies put it on.  (Like, there's so *many* groups
of crazies there, it's hard to keep them all straight!)

If you know *anything* about the type of weather Prude U gets this
time of year, and about wind-chill, and frostbite, and hypothermia,
you'll know why certain beagles declined to get involved.
