When the weather is very cold they wear neoprene face masks or put masking tape over their faces to avoid frostbite on cheeks, chin & nose. I did some CRW with them. It was 10 below on the ground. We climbed to 8 grand in a Cessna 172 with the door on. The exit, pushing out through the door was easy with the aircraft throttled right back. The temperature was warmer at altitude than on the surface! Very pleasant CRW conditions. I'm sure the dense air gave us a lot more air time - the landings were very floaty.
