Regarding aging your own barn board:

I understand that a mixture of baking soda and water,
sprayed on the rough green surface, will accelerate
the aging process to a couple of weeks.  I don't have
first hand experience with this, but it sounds cheap
enough to try it and see.  I would presume you
should be careful about uniform coverage.

The other alternative is to move to the Pacific
Northwest and experience our climate during the 
wet season.  You might lose interest in weathered
wood :-).
