Sigh. I seem to be in the minority on the net.singles.js arguement, but I
still find myself rather disgusted with the whole situation. I think you
are forgetting one basic fact here- Jeff is a real person, with real
feelings. We are talking about him in the third person, s though he really
wasn't there, which he is, as though what he feels doesn't matter, which it
does. I hope to GLOS that next time you feel rotten about yourself you go
to a group of people, and they sit and dissect why you feel rotten, tell
you to go feel rotten, and generally make rotten little oyu feel just as
welcome as you've made Jeff feel. Whether Jeff has posted too much is
immaterial, whether Jeff's postings have been irrelavent are immaterial
(although I argue that others get benefit from them, and they ARE
material). What IS material is that you're treating a fellow human being
like a second or third class citizen. I'm personally embarrased that a
group of people like those on net.singles, who purport to be very close to
each other, who purport to be here to talk things through and support each
other, can act so thoughtless and uncaring about a fellow human being. If
you don't like Jeff's postings, write him some mail and tell him. Dammit,
don't hold him up like a rag doll and punch him. If you are in a
restaurant, and you see someone with their fly down, do you stand up on the
table, pointing and yelling? no, you tell them quietly. Jeff deserves
better, no matter what you (or I) personally think of his postings. I
wouldn't give this treatment to a dog, much less a person. I hope that
those that are dishing out all of this thoughtless tripe think VERY
carefully about this-- next time it might be you on the other end, and how
would YOU feel?
