An interesting situation-- I've done this a few times, both the traveller and the travellee. I don't know what scared me most-- that it might 'click' or that it wouldn't. Both have severe drawbacks, when you consider the distances involved. The only real advice I could attempt is simply not to expect anything, so that whatever (if anything) happens will be a pleasant suprise. Accept what is offered, if you feel comfortable with it, and don't push.
