Iceland is a geological wonderland with glaciers, volcanos, faults, and many other unique features. Its forest is a couple acres of scrub trees. It is dominated by sheep and fishing. There is a highway that circles the island and has Hotel Edda's scattered along the way. These Hotels are boarding schools during the school year since many children live too far from school to commute, especially in bad weather. The summers rarely go above 65 degrees F and are frequented by wind and rain. Fish is the chief food. The language is related to the old Viking tongue. The airline, Icelandic, has all kinds of special deals. It is best to get your package through them. Woolens are a real bargain. The island has a 3,700 mile coastline and is the size of Ohio. They rent tents and sleeping bags in Reykjavik and have backpack and camping oriented tours. It is one place a person would not want to miss but wouldn't want to go back to too frequently.
