According to the current plan, I'm hoping to demonstrate the Stargate experiment, using some sample netnews messages, on Thursday Jan. 24, from 2 until 5 PM at the Fairmont Hotel in some (still unclear) location. A rented dish is being brought in, and we can only hope that everything works with that rented equipment over which we have no control. Stargate involves the transmission of netnews materials over the vertical blanking interval of "Superstation" WTBS, available in over 30 million locations via over 8000 cable companies. This is an ongoing experiment that I am performing with support from the WTBS satellite carrier, Usenix, Bell Communications Research, Fortune Systems, and other entities. For details, please check the archives of net.news and (recently) net.news.stargate. Thanks. --Lauren--
