The D-5 may be covered by Federal Aviation Agency regulations which prohibit use of certain "portable electronic devices" on airliners, since these may possibly interfere with radio navigation instruments. I would check with the airline before using it. Assuming the unit is properly designed I doubt whether there would be a problem, but perhaps it's not.
