He seemed to adjust to everything quickly, with the exception of the (manual) gearshift. Our solution to this was for me to do the shifting from the passenger seat. (That way, I shifted right-handed. He, of course, still handled the clutch.) We got pretty good at the timing after a while, so that it became automatic for both of us. It took longer to downshift smoothly, though. For a non-driving teenager, it was a lot of fun. I'd definitely recommend it.
