Since recipes for cornbread have many variations around a fairly common central theme, I would guess that it's dang nigh impossible to figger out which one your grandfather was making, although it probably could be approximated by making cornbread and just adding a few ingredients for each experimental batch. I've heard of folks putting bacon bits and creamed corn in their cornbread, for example.
