Perhaps there is no history of enslaved Jews in America, but (lest we forget) Jews (well, actually Israelites) were the first slaves in recorded history, enslaved by the Egyptian pharaohs. Anti-semitism resulted in something far worse than the pogroms (although the pogroms themselves were pretty bad), namely Hitler and the six million. The Chinese who worked the gold mines and the railroads were not slaves, but had terrible working conditions, lousy pay and many of them died in the mines or on the road gangs. Not slavery, but cruelty nevertheless. -- ... hey, we've gotta get out of this place, there's got to be something better than this ... Greg Skinner (gregbo) {allegra,cbosgd,ihnp4}!houxm!gregbo
