While  Jews  have  never  been  enslaved in the USA, since second temple
period, the Romans have enslaved the Jews  punitively,  the  Byzantines,
the  Spanish, the English, the Germans, the Kurds, the Shiite Muslims of
Yemen and Iran, Berber and Arab Muslims have at various  times  enslaved
the  whole local Jewish community.  The Israeli government after the war
of indepence purchased the Jewish communities  of  Yemen  and  Kurdistan
from the local Muslims.
