Let me explain: Bobby Fischer knows he would not be able to come back to the top. He played some friendly games against some grand-masters. I do NOT doubt he still has the strength of an international grand-master, but not more than that. In order to conceal this, he asks ridiculous amounts of money to play and to be interviewed. Another simple argument is, that only the World Champion of the FIDE has the rigth to call himself the best chess player in the world!
