Everyone there heard the jokes so many times that they just numbered them all. So to tell a joke, someone would stand up and say the number of the joke, and everyone would remember the joke and laugh. So to get on with the joke, someone stands up and says "151", and everyone laughs loudly. Another person stands up and says "That reminds me of 211"; even more laughter. And a third person rises and says: "Who could forget 24?". There, again is a good deal of laughter, it all dies down except for one person who can't stop laughing. He goes on and on, tears running down his face and the whole bit. The head joke teller leans over to a friend and asks why this guy is laughing so hard. His friend replies: "He never heard that one before." Not too funny, huh? Well, it won't get better. Finally, it all quiets down, and the joke telling goes on. More numbers called out with uproarious laughter for each one. Finally, a Usenet user stands up and says "83", there is a very small amount of laughter, which dies out almost immediately. The head joke teller leans over to his friend and says: "Boy, some people just can't tell a joke." All done. -Jim
