The problem is that the terminal uses the form feed to clear the screen:
The question gets printed and then the screen cleared, before you have
a chance to read the question, and all that comes out is the question.  I
had this happen a lot when I used readnews; vnews (and I would hope rn) solve
the problem by putting the two character sequence ^L on the screen.

(Worse, it only happened on readnews on short postings; longer ones got
piped to more, which handles ^Ls.  So the behavior wasn't always "consistent".)
