I agree that smashing its tiny head is not the way to go, but the recent
analogy to the SPCA was a strange one. SPCI? Society for the Protection of
Infants? When a society requires an organization to protect its newborn,
something is SERIOUSLY wrong.

While it may be true that the doctor's responsiblity is to test and provide
as much information as possible to the parents, and while it may be true
that the parents have a responsibility to make a decision about the infant
long before it breathes, still, you just can't have people smashing infant's
heads on the floor of delivery rooms.
