Not so much in work, but in other income-producing activities, like finding interest-paying checking accounts. Back when my wife and I both worked, and we had a larger total income than now, I recall thinking specifically that I much preferred a checking account that provided services at no cost to me than one which paid me some amount of interest on the balance. Now, the tax impact on such interest payments is less, but I still prefer to receive services than to receive monetary return on which I must pay tax.
