A couple of notes: - The article has an error in it: the text says to solder pin 7 of the 74F253 to the IC below, and the picture says pin 8. The picture is right. (Applies only to the older board version.) - 74LS253 seems to work as a substitute for 74F253. - The color code yellow-purple-brown on a resistor means 470 ohms, not 47 ohms, and 470-ohm resistors don't work nearly as well (I found this out the hard way).
