I'm not sure why, but I think the problem was as follows: I had a program with several .obj files. When I switched to a newer version of the C86 compiler, I didn't re-compile all of these files. Possibly, the 'mixing' of these .obj files caused the stdout to disappear under the conditions that were left by EDIX. Again, the problem is gone now. Sam Scalise
