I haven't followed Garfield comics continuously from the beginning, so
maybe there's a logical explanation in one of the strips I missed.
In an early strip, Jon was living alone with Garfield and an old
friend, Lyman (I think) moved in with his dog, Odie.  Odie's still
there.  Where's Lyman?
