I think this was added because Empire was due out in the summer. I believe there was always a story line before and after A New Hope, but this was not intended to be exploited at first. It helped with concepts about the part that would exploited, however. Worked out rather nicely, don't you think? I haven't read this group before, but in case it's not been mentioned (probably has), you will notice the subscription version of "A New Hope" is 118 minutes while the original release is 121 minutes. Notable scenes such as a stormtroop squad leader ordering, "Close the blast doors!," before Han and Chewie jump through them as they close, and he orders, "Open the blast doors! Open the blast doors!" are missing parts. -- J.
