The correct name for the awards was "The British Phonographic Industry Awards" > Best British Album - Diamond Life - Sade 2. Sade was correct and not Slade as I thought. Sade (pronounced Sharday) is a half-caste female vocalist. > Best British Female Artiste - Alison Moyet (All Cried Out) 3. Alison Moyet was the female singer with Yazoo (She is also known as Alf, and is 8.5 months pregnant) > Best British Group - Wham > Best British Producer Trevor Horn (Relax, Two Tribes) > Best British Single - Relax - Frankie Goes To Hollywood > (Two Tribes was the 4th best selling British record of all time?) > Best British Video - Duran Duran - Wild Boys > Best Classical Record - Vivaldi Four Seasons - Christopher Hogwood > Best Comedy Record - Hole in my Shoe - Neil 4. Neil, (cannot remember his real name) was one of the characters (the long haired hippy) in a comedy series called "The Young Ones" which was shown on the BBC. It also starred Rik Mayall. (very good program hope it gets shown here, but somehow I doubt it) Neil did a flat boring version of Hole In My Shoe ( original version was done a long time ago by Traffic ) > Best Film Soundtrack - Purple Rain > Best International Artist - Prince and the Revolution > Best Male Artist - Paul Young > Best Newcomer - Frankie Goes to Hollywood > Special Award to Bob Geldorf and Midge Ure for Ethiopia thing > Special Award to Police for Outstanding Contribution over past 5 years > > I have inserted two comments ( in <> ) one could be a typo, the other for > clarity.
