Well, the idea is that the deceased has decided whom to give his stuff to, and that is his right to do (even after her has died). If he dies without a will, then the idea is that he naturally would have wanted to give his stuff to his next of kin (which is not usually a good assumption to make)... Instead of burning the money, why not let it support the government instead of taxes? (I.e., the default will is to the government.) Wayne
