I remember that in the grade school I went to there was a kid whose last name was not the same as either of his parents, and we thought that it was weird for about an hour when we discovered it, but didn't ostracise her. In fact, some people wished that *they* could be the same -- especially those people whose last names were unpronouncable by the teacher population and thopes who found their last name boring. are kids different today?
