I have just purchased a Proton video monitor (good stuff) and am considering purchasing a LaserDisc player in order to get software up to par with the resolution of the monitor. There also seem to be a better selection of classical opera on this format. On one hand, with the absence of the RCA CED format, one might think that the LaserDisc have a chance. On the other hand, my perception is that videotape machines are becoming so overwhelmingly successful that they will swamp any chance to the LaserDisc to succeed. I don't want to be saddled with an player for a discontinued medium. (I have a VCR already.) -- /Steve Dyer {decvax,linus,ima,ihnp4}!bbncca!sdyer sdyer@bbnccv.ARPA
