The attempt to install the programmable clock today was not successful.
Everything seemed all right, and then the system fell over as it was
coming up multi-user.  After a bit of dithering, I pulled the clock
board back out and brought things back up as before.  Most unfortunately,
I didn't think to get a kernel core dump.  Further experimenting will
be necessary.  Stay tuned.
