Registration is by SOUNDEX number (driver's license in many states) and date of birth. Should also find out from the parents the court in which the adoption was finalized and the birth hospital. There are support groups and lawyers who specialize in this sort of thing. If you're dealing with serious disease, you might just put aside the emotions normally associated with adoptees meeting their birth parents and trust that most people are sufficiently kind to understand the real problem here. You might also post your inquiry to net.med, net.wanted, and net.general.
