Message-ID: <330@cmu-cs-k.ARPA> Date: Tue, 19-Mar-85 12:06:11 EST Article-I.D.: cmu-cs-k.330 Posted: Tue Mar 19 12:06:11 1985 Date-Received: Sat, 23-Mar-85 00:54:26 EST Organization: Carnegie-Mellon University, CS/RI Lines: 19 I'm tired of waiting so as to be able to afford a real hi-fi system, and I've been shopping for something I can afford now (in the $600 range). Any suggestions? I'm impressed by the NAD 3020B integrated amp, but locally I can't find it for less than retail. Are there any reputable mail-order houses that deal with NAD products? I'm also thinking about the Technics SLJ2 turntable (readily available by mail), and looking for comments from owners. Choosing speakers is really difficult for me, but some of the discussion on this list has helped. I've auditioned the Spectrum 108A, Acoustic Research 19, AR 20, and Rauna Tyr speakers, priced at $200, $250, $350, and $450, respectively. I really like the Raunas, but can't afford them -- and none of the others excites me. Comments, pointers, suggestions, reviews welcome. I'll summarize if the response warrants it. -- David.Anderson@CMU-CS-K.ARPA seismo!cmu-cs-k!dba (412) 422-1255
