The D-5 is a no frills unit. If you want to pay several hundred dollars for the feature you are seeking, go right ahead - it's a free country. You have the track number and the elapsed time within the track. That can get you back to where you want to be when you need to return to the middle of a track. I'm not sure that any player will give you what you are asking: Guaranteed return to the point at which you turn off the system - at any arbitrary point within a track. Many of the fancy units will give you the ability to key-in the point within a track at which you want to start.
